As our year begins in earnest with DAORN, I would like to encourage each of you to not lose sight of our goal when caring for the surgical patient. The upcoming theme for the 2017 AORN Global Surgical Conference & Expo is titled The Power of You. As I plan for our coming year I’d like to capitalize on the theme. You as a professional have the responsibility to continue your professional growth. You have the ability to participate in your professional organization. You have the responsibility to utilize Evidenced Based Practice in the delivery of patient care.
DAORN can help you to achieve the above mentioned responsibilities with our monthly meetings offering a variety of great educational presentations. We are always looking for volunteers to support our Fall Workshop and the Bill Lord Golf Tournament. These activities support educational grants for our nurses as well as scholarships for student nurses. We will continue to offer opportunities to participate by hosting two meetings on a Saturday during the year. As well you can call in to our meetings using Ready Talk. The information is available on our website www.daorn.org. I would like to capitalize on last year’s sharing of Good Catches with a Clinical Hot Topic to discuss at each of our meetings. I would encourage you to be a part of something bigger, which is DAORN.
We will be discussing proposed Bylaw Changes. Here are the changes to be discussed:
