DAORN CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES


Thursday, April 10, 2008
North Suburban Medical Center

 The Chapter meeting was called to order at 6:22PM.

 President Ron Jagersky welcomed members and guests.  Our thanks to North Suburban Medical Center for sponsoring the meeting tonight and to Medline and Dave Kriese for providing dinner and prizes.        

 A quorum is present. 

 Minutes from the March 13, 2008 meeting were approved.  

 Treasurer’s Report:  Balance on hand $33656.36. King Sooper’s Certificates:  $3175.00.

 Correspondence:   Trauma Workshop held by Colorado Springs Chapter on 4/26; Front Range Chapter hosting Energy Based Devices Workshop 5/3 in Boulder.   

 Board Report:  Decision was made to have the funds raised from the Bill Lord Golf Tournament distributed as 50% to the general account (supports delegate education funding) and 50% will go to the Bill Lord Scholarship account (supports nursing scholarships).  Erin Turner-Lantzy has volunteered to serve on the DAORN Board as a vendor.  She meets the criteria. 

 Committee Reports:

Education:  Delegates will discuss the slate of candidates and Congress issues at tonight’s education meeting.  Voting at Congress will be on Wednesday from 10-1PM.  Meet the Candidates is on Saturday from 2-5PM

Membership:  Several guests were introduced.     

Nominating:  Ballots for chapter officers are available tonight and will also be mailed.  They must be postmarked by March 31st to qualify.    

Research:  Jim Stobinski presented the 2007 Salary and Career Survey published by OR Manager.  He distributed a survey on OR Education Programs. 

Ways & Means:  The 10th annual DAORN Bill Lord Memorial golf tournament will be held on 6/9/08 at The Ranch.  There will be a silent auction.  Sign up to donate items to the silent auction.  Save the date cards are available for members to distribute.    

Scholarship:  The Board approved $250 for Rose Seavey’s registration fee to IAHCSMM to be held in May 2008. 

 Old Business:  The Board is seeking vendors who might be interested in serving on the DAORN board.    If anyone is interested in serving as a delegate at large for AORN Congress, please contact Deb Warren at AORN Headquarters. 

 New Business:  Colorado badges to be worn at Congress are available from Gerry Hopkins.  The blue feather pins are available for $5.00 at tonight’s meeting.  Mary Jo Steiert asked for Chapter members to consider being volunteers at Congress.  There is a need for session assistants and moderators.  Call AORN headquarters if you are interested or contact Mary Jo.  Wednesday night at Congress, Mary Jo will be hosting a reception at the Marriott from 7-9PM.  All Denver Chapter members attending Congress are invited to attend.  Cardinal is sponsoring a tailgate party prior to the event at Disneyland.  Brochures for the ASATT spring education seminar and meeting to be held April 26th at The Children’s Hospital were distributed.  Contact Tammy Woolley for more information.  3M is hosting the Sterile University Network at The Children’s Hospital on April 10th.  Three CEU’s will be given.  Contact Rose Seavey for more information.    

 The meeting was adjourned at 6:50PM.

King Soopers Certificates/Cards (KSC)
 

Thanks to everyone who bought $675 of KSC at our April 10, 2008, chapter meeting. Please bring $25 or more in cash or check to our May meeting to buy KSC to support our delegates. King Soopers has discontinued making certificates and are offering gift cards in place of the paper certificates. Our chapter has $25 and $100 Gift Cards available.

Raffles

 

Our next Raffle will be at the Golf Tournament on June 9, 2008.  Any donation of gifts for that Raffle or the Silent Auction will be appreciated. The gifts may be brought to the chapter meeting on May 8th.
